Driving in Taiwan – What You Need to Know
 

在最初的 30 天內，您可以使用來自您的國家的國際駕照。

For the first 30 days, you may use an International Driver’s Permit (IDP) issued by your home country.

(This applies only to countries with reciprocal agreements. Please refer to the List of Reciprocal License Agreements.)
 

若要使用國際駕照長達 1 年，您必須親自前往機車牌照事務所辦理註冊。

To use your IDP for up to one year, you must register it in person at the Motor Vehicles Office.

請攜帶您的居留證（ARC）和護照。需要支付相應的費用。請參閱官方連結。
Bring your ARC (Alien Resident Certificate) and passport. A processing fee is required. Please refer to the official link.
 

通常，超過一年後，您必須取得台灣當地的駕照，方法包括參加駕照考試或轉換外國駕照。

Generally, after one year, you must obtain a local Taiwanese driver’s license by either taking the test or converting your foreign license.

在台灣有幾種不同類型的駕照。

There are several types of driver’s licenses in Taiwan.
 

非商業用途最常見的有：
For non-commercial use, the most common categories are:

• 輕型機車 49cc 以下（輕型）
  Light motorcycle: under 49cc

• 普通型機車 50cc 到 249cc（普通型）
  Regular motorcycle: 50cc–249cc

• 大型重型機車 250cc 以上（重型）
  Heavy motorcycle: 250cc and above

• 普通小客車（自排）
  Passenger car (automatic transmission)

• 普通小客車（手排）
  Passenger car (manual transmission)

台灣的駕照考試包括身體檢查、筆試和實際操作測驗。
The driving test in Taiwan includes a physical exam, a written test, and a practical road test.

要開始申請流程，請攜帶以下文件前往當地機車牌照事務所：
To start the application process, bring the following documents to the Motor Vehicles Office:

• 駕照申請表
  Driver’s license application form

• 過去一年內從官方體檢中心獲得的有效體檢報告
  Valid medical exam report from the past year

• 外國人居留證（ARC）
  ARC (Alien Resident Certificate)

• 護照
  Passport

• 三張一吋護照照片（過去兩年內拍攝）
  Three 1-inch passport photos taken within the last two years
   

英文考試

English Test Availability**

英文考試需提前預約，並非所有機車牌照事務所都提供。
The English written test requires advance booking, and not all offices provide it.

一般來說，大城市都有提供英文考試的監理站。
Generally, major cities have stations that offer English testing.
